Evaluation of Ability
Being a reflective teacher is essential to being an effective teacher. It is so important that teachers are constantly reflecting on ways to improve their teaching styles, content, classroom management strategies and relationships. Part of being a reflective teacher is pulling data from multiple sources. I plan to look for feedback from my parents, colleagues, administration, and most importantly, my students.
Students
To find out what is going well within my classroom I will not only use assessment data, but I will also ask my students how they are feeling with content, socially and emotionally. I also am utilizing a Ask/Tell jar that students can use to provide me with feedback.
Parents/Caregivers
To receive feedback from support systems I will keep in close communication with parents whenever possible. I will post updates to our ClassDojo as well as ask for feedback during parent/teacher conferences.
Colleagues and Administration
I will receive feedback from colleagues through discussions and teaching observations. I will also be observed multiple times throughout the year so I can improve my instruction!
Myself
As an avid journaler, I plan to quickly free-write after my lessons about ways I can improve and things that went well.
